This just has to be the most beautiful island in Fiji. The resort is the only one on this quiet remote island... Access is via the resort's own light aircraft, which flies in daily from Nandi International airport and lands/takes off on a grass landing strip. You are welcomed with a hibiscus necklace and milk from a freshly cut coconut. Accommodation is in individual well appointed traditional Fijian bures, each of which look out on to a beautiful 750 metre long beach. The overall setting is very eco-conscious. Food is very good, and Manassa's bar is excellent. The Fijian staff are wonderfully friendly and attentive. A good spa is available at reasonable cost. All activities are free, except for those involving motorised vehicles. Free organized activities are available each day, and the option of attending the Sunday church service at the local village is an absolute must. Here you see a very different Fiji from the main island, and become aware of the deeply religious beliefs of the Yasawa people. The visit to the Blue Lagoon sea caves is also a must, not because of the caves themselves but because from the speedboat you are able to appreciate the full extent of the breathtaking beauty of Yasawa itself. The option of a picnic lunch on a deserted beach is also a must.If your idea of a holiday is wild trendy nightlife with loud music and stroboscopic lights this resort is definitely not for you. But if you are wanting to escape from the pressures of modern western life to one of the world's most beautiful natural settings then Yasawa Island is your answer.

"We haven't even left yet but I am ready to leave a nice review. This will be our third trip with family to Yasawa. We've been to Fiji five times and have stayed at most of the nice resorts. The kids have been going with us now for family week for two years. This will be our third trip for us with the kids age 6 and 9. The staff is unbelievable with the kids!! We usually stay approximately 3 to 4 weeks and go to three different resorts. This year I took a vote and the decision was unanimous to spend the entire trip at Yasawa! Great diving, GREAT staff, great food, unbelievable beach. We certainly will miss the old Main Bure and are excited to see the new one! Can't wait to get there." - georgelq (La Quinta, California)

"Getting here by chartered small-plane transfer beats anything Disney has to offer (the landing is on a short grass runway). This is a superb upper-end resort with an idyllic white-sand beach and every comfort you wouldn’t expect in such a hard-to-reach location. It is not glossy or polished but offers the essential luxuries and the experience of getting in touch with nature, local culture, and yourself. The individual bures are tastefully decorated in contemporary Fijian style, with a thatched roof, breeze-permitting plantation shutters, an expansive deck, an outdoor shower, a personal hammock, and a private beach hut at the edge of the water. Meals and soft drinks are included, but alcoholic drinks are extra. We gathered at the open-air bar at sunset and began ordering cold Fijian beer and frothy Fijian rum-fueled cocktails. Succulent seafood is caught daily just offshore, and lobster plucked from the nearby reefs is a specialty. Guests may dine at the restaurant, on a deserted beach, or in their bure, as they please. A traditional Fijian feast is presented weekly with all the food cooked in a pit dug in the sand; it also features a meke of traditional Fijian song and dance performed by the local villagers. We took an excursion via speedboat to the Sawa-I-Lau Caves/Blue Lagoon Caves at the southern end of Yasawa Island for a swim within its chambers and a look-see at the low-key shell market. This spectacular lagoon was one of the settings for the 1980 movie, “Blue Lagoon." All activities are included except spa treatments, scuba diving, and sports fishing. A Wedding Package includes a tala tala—the priest who performs weddings. I do hope to get back someday."
